Best Lawyers® is the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession, providing lists of outstanding attorneys compiled by conducting peer-review surveys with more than 80,000 leading lawyers throughout the United States. For the 2017 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America®, 7.3 million votes were analyzed, which resulted in almost 55,000 leading lawyers being included in the new edition. Lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, therefore inclusion in Best Lawyers® is considered a singular honor.

He was named to the Best Lawyers® in seven practice areas: commercial litigation; banking and finance litigation; real estate litigation; regulatory enforcement (SEC, Telecom, Energy) litigation; mass tort litigation in class actions for plaintiffs; personal injury litigation for defendants; and personal injury litigation for plaintiffs.
Lopez, also a Stanford Law School graduate who received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, was named to the Best Lawyers® list in real estate law.
