Attorney Jeffrey Baxter serves business clients in a variety of matters such as real estate acquisition, business formation, and commercial foreclosure. He also provides advice in real estate, zoning, and land matters, and represents businesses in a wide range of issues.
How I Serve Clients
I serve clients by first discussing with them their ultimate goals for a particular project, whether it is the acquisition of a piece of real property, forming a limited liability company for a new business, or foreclosing on a commercial borrower who has defaulted on a loan. Once the client’s ultimate goals are identified, I discuss with the client a strategy for assisting them in reaching those goals.
Exceptional Client Service
Being a good transactional attorney requires being able to think creatively about problem solving, and recognizing there is more than one way to help a client reach their goals. First, however, the client’s goals must be clearly understood so that an effective solution can be developed.
How My Background Helps Clients
In addition to being a lawyer, I have also served as a lobbyist. When working with legislators, clients and other stakeholders on crafting legislation, it is essential to first identify the specific issues to be addressed, and then to develop solutions that will not have unintended consequences. Persuasiveness and creativity in problem solving are also essential skills to have.
Advising and representing clients requires utilizing many of these same skills. Drafting agreements between parties, whether it be a loan agreement, a lease, an operating agreement, a purchase agreement, or another type of agreement, requires strategic thinking and precise language, so as to prevent unintended consequences from affecting the transaction.
When I am Not in the Office
I can be found with my wife, trying to keep our six month old girl from putting everything she can in her mouth.
