Jay joins Rusing Lopez & Lizardi as a member of the firm’s litigation department.
Prior to joining RL&L, Jay served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the United States District Court of Arizona for the Honorable Scott H. Rash. At the district court, Jay managed civil cases, facilitated discovery disputes, drafted judicial decisions and orders on civil and criminal issues, and assisted with civil and criminal jury trials.
Prior to the federal clerkship, Jay clerked for the Honorable Karl C. Eppich at the Court of Appeals for the State of Arizona, Division II. At the Court of Appeals, Jay gained invaluable experience analyzing appellate briefs, learning about appellate strategy, and drafting several memorandum decisions and published opinions. During law school, Jay clerked in the criminal division of the Pima County Attorney’s Office where he gained experience drafting motions and assisting with trial preparation.
Jay’s combination of trial and appellate clerkships and experience with civil and criminal law provides him with a holistic overview of the legal system. He uses that knowledge to help his clients make well-informed decisions.
