RL&L Attorney Gives Back To His School

For more than 20 years, Adams State University and select students have been the beneficiaries of a scholarship funded, in part, by Tucson attorney Mark Lammers.

Lammers, an attorney with Rusing Lopez & Lizardi and an Adams State alumnus, joined with emeritus professor Dr. John McDaniel and other contributors in establishing 40 individual scholarships for Adams State students in several fields of study.

“It’s a way of honoring the students I have taught in the past, and also of helping students who will come in the future,” McDaniel said of the scholarship program at the school located in Alamosa, Colo.

Students who receive the Lammers/McDaniel Scholarship major in history/government, which was Lammers’ major when he earned a bachelor of arts cum laude in 1980 and a master’s degree in 1982. He earned his law degree from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1985.

“I wouldn’t have gotten into law school without Dr. McDaniel’s help and mentoring,” Lammers said. “I’m truly honored to pay this forward in his name.”

The 2016-2017 recipient of the scholarship is Eric J. Learn.

Each scholarship was initially funded with a $5,000 donation from Dr. McDaniel with additional funding provided by individual donors such as Lammers and the Adams State University Foundation.
