Matthew DeWeerdt joins Rusing Lopez & Lizardi as a member of the firm’s litigation department. Prior to joining RL&L, Matthew served as a Senior Judicial Law Clerk in the Court of Appeals for the State of Arizona, Division II.

At the Court of Appeals, Matthew clerked for the Honorable Sean Brearcliffe where he drafted dozens of judicial memorandum decisions and published opinions covering a wide range of civil and criminal appeals.  In each case, Matthew conducted complex legal research, as well as in-depth analysis of litigation strategy, procedure, and factual records.  This appellate perspective uniquely prepares Mathew to assist his clients in navigating the nuanced decisions that litigation presents.
